TIPS FOR APPLICANTS

• All TexFit conference sessions are 50-minutes long except warm-up sessions (3-5 minutes long). 

• Before applying, consult with your supervisor and ask for feedback.

• Review the application and video criteria.

• Type up answers to the application questions on your preferred word processor, proofread and copy/paste into the application form.

• Upload your video to YouTube and make it unlisted (but not private). You'll need to submit a URL to the video on the application form.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Both currently enrolled students and non-students are eligible to apply to present at TexFit 2024. 


• Individuals may submit multiple applications. 

• Applications have reopened for select topics (see list below) and are due on Thursday, Jan. 18.

PRESENTATION FORMATS

• Workout (strictly all movement for 50 minutes)

• Lecture (strictly lecture and conversation for 50 minutes)

• Workout and Lecture (within 50 minute session time frame, 50% conversation and 50% movement) 

PRESENTATION IDEAS

While this is not an exhaustive list, we hope it will help get you thinking creatively about what you want to present. Please remember to stay within your scope of practice.

At this time, we are only accepting applications for the following presentation topics:

Inclusive language in fitness

Acro Yoga, Paddleboard Yoga, Singing Bowl Meditation, and any other type of yoga.

Dance classes: Hip Hop, Zumba, Bollywood, Belly Dance, Tik Tok Dance, etc.

 


Strength-Based classes: HITT, Bootcamps, Corrective Exercise


Cycle classes: Silent disco cycle, themed cycle classes

Pilates

Barre

Fusion Classes: Barre + Box, HIIT the Step, Bosu Booty Class, etc.

APPLICATION VIDEO CRITERIA INFORMATION

Workout Format

Videos must be 5-10 minutes long and include:

• Brief introduction of yourself and your session
• Description of session learning outcomes, layout of the class
• Brief warm-up
• Instruction/demonstration of your session
• Proper form, technique, and cueing
• Videos may be filmed in a live class or a mock class for the purpose of your TexFit application

Note: Make sure there is plenty of lighting in the room you're filming; consult with your supervisors for help with filming if needed.

Lecture Format

Videos must be 3-5 minutes long and include:

• Introduction of yourself and your session
• Description of session learning outcomes
• Outline of session content

Note: Videos should be filmed in a classroom environment; consult your supervisor for help with filming if needed.

Workout and Lecture Format

Videos must be 15-20 minutes long and include all aspects listed above for both lecture and workout portions.

Warm-Up Format

Applications for this format close on Sunday, Jan. 7.


Videos must be 3-10 minutes long and include:

• Introduction of yourself and your chosen format for warm-up
• Instruction/demonstration of your warm-up
• Outline of session content

Note: Only students may submit Warm-Up Format applications. No equipment should be used. Video may be filmed in a live or a mock class. Consult your supervisor for help with filming if needed.
